where can I find photos/pictures on the web where I can download them for free to use for presentations, brochures, etc. These free pics should not have the 'watermark' of the name of the website

One option would be to use images that are available under a Creative Commons license.

Flickr has a search specifically from images on it's site that are released under the various Creative Commons (CC) licenses. If you want the most freedom you can use this search to find images that you may do with as you please (including change/modify and use in commercial/business settings without paying royalties) you just have to provide a link to the photos' Flickr page somewhere in the presentation.

The Flickr Advanced Search Page includes filter options for CC-licensed images. More info on the Creative Commons various licenses and what they mean can be found at creativecommons.org, including their own search.

Shameless Plug: my own public photos on Flickr are almost all released under the least restrictive CC-license. (photos of F1 cannot be used for commercial purposed).

Stock.XCHNG is another one. The photos are generally free and qualities are not bad. Read their FAQs for usage information.
