Am looking for a full qwerty phone to sync with my outlook exchange emails. Using the iPhone now and it works wonderfully. Just that it sucks up battery power.

Tried the HTC Hero, but with the small touchscreen screen, it makes typing kind of difficult. So aside from blackberry phones where I would still have to sign up for a separate BIS, any recommendations?

How about Windows Mobile phones? Currently, the ones on sale here in Singapore with a physical QWERTY keyboard would be the Samsung Omnia Pro B7320 and B7330. I myself own an older model, the i780 and it's been working fine for the past 1 year+.

Alternatively, you can also consider the Nokia E series phones like the E63, E71 and E72. They too come with QWERTY keyboards and support for connecting to an Exchange email server. If not for my existing collection of Windows Mobile software, I would have bought an E71 last year as in my opinion, the keyboard on that phone has a much nicer feel compared to the i780.

WinMo tends to hang? :p better than Symbian anyway. Yeah, I think I really am out of options aside from the Samsung Omnia series or HTC touchpro series for WinMo. Had the Nokia E71 and the E72 is on my 'perhaps to try' list. I just wish Samsung would come up with an upgrade to the i780. Heh – Dawny Nov 22 at 13:08
My experience with WinMobile is that it tends to hang only if you launch Pocket Internet Explorer(PIE) or install memory resident software. I was rebooting my software enhanced i780 every 2 or 3 days. After I did a hard reset and stopped launching PIE, my phone can now run for days/weeks without requiring a reboot. Another cause of WinMo hanging on my old Dopod 838pro was the slideout keyboard which caused the screen to rotate 90 degrees. Hence my choice of the i780 as a replacement. No slideout keyboard = No screen rotation. – Edmund Tay Nov 23 at 12:01
If I am not wrong, the B7320/B7330 are the replacements for the i780. You should head over to the Singtel exclusive retailer shop at ION on the B3 level. You can physically try out and compare the Nokia E series and Samsung Omnia B models. I was there earlier and think the Samsung keypad was a bit stiff. Blackberry phones have the best keyboard but the ones on the Nokia E71/72 aren't far behind. I have nothing good to say about HTC keyboards. After a few months of usage, the keys don't seem to register properly. – Edmund Tay Nov 23 at 12:07

If you have a choice I'd go with the Blackberry. The BIS is part of why it's such a good solution.

I am a iPhone user, but have been a crackberry addict since the black and white days. I have never found any handset -- Nokia E-series, O2/Dopod/HTC or Samsung/Anycall to be anywhere near as well designed. The Blackberry was designed from the ground up to be a mobile email solution and work with Exchange.

If you absolutely can't do Blackberry then the Nokia E72 would be my recommendation.
